I love her back just above the dress – so vulnerable. Who could have hurt such a beautiful creature I feel myself imagine. So very beautiful and lonely and intimate. Breathtaking.
The only thing I can add to how beautiful this painting is would be to point out what makes it exceptionally great for me. Here’s a short list:
The soft strokes of hair at the nape of her neck
The half circle shadow by her left foot
The strokes that lead from the corners of the frame to her feet and of course the wonderful detail on her dress.
