From Vikki:
‘Thank you’ to the young men and women that leave their families, friends and homes behind to make our America a safe place for all us to live. You are in our hearts always.’

In regard to the boots: In researching today’s soldier boots I expected to find traditional heavy black leather boots. Not the case in 2009. My image accurately portrays their footwear. The U.S. Army has updated their boots to be more applicable and comfortable for the Middle East deserts: Their boots are lightweight natural suede with air pockets that run up the sides. No more boot polishing, Soldier!

Vikki, you always know how to say the most without being direct. Your mind works one or two steps ahead of the rest! I would take my boots off to you, but…
I’ve never walked in those shoes!

What a quietly respectful tribute. One that says more than one could imagine with such a poignant vision.

Thank you all. I love symbolism and find it usually becomes the best answer for me.

This is so simple, and so emotional at the same time. That’s the sign of a true artist. Will prints of this be available in notecards or posters? It should be. I think it would be, even, the kind of holiday greeting people should see because it means something profound.

    Hi Ruth,
    thanks for visiting the Challenge.
Prints are available. You can see my pricing on my Website: http://www.theredchairgallery.com/special-offers.html

I hadn’t thought about notecards. That’s a great idea! I’ll check into it.
