“To know the Moon as few men may, one must be just a little fey;
And for our friendship’s sake I’m glad, that I am just a trifle mad.
……
Until one night the Moon alone- will look upon a graven stone.
I wonder will it miss me then, its lover more than other men?
Or will my wistful ghost be there, down ages dim to stare and stare,
On silver nights without a stir-The Moon’s Eternal Worshipper? “
-”Moon-Lover” by Robert William Service
And we who are a trifle mad, but happy we are , so rarely sad,
Present to you SO blue and silver, our concepts for that old “Moon River.”

Sequestered by an ancient Oak,
harmonious nights silent solitude.
Tranquil darkened, cerulean water,
motionless, breathless… a piercing silence.
Reflections of celestial grandeur,
slate speckled, argenteous ivory.
Luminously sublime, unwavering,
preeminently breathtaking.
Natures spirits reposing,
depleted from daylight tribulations.
Restoring their lusty efficacy,
benefiting a simple soul such as I.
Silence… wondrous music of new tone,
comforting, benevolent, resounding.
Sumptuous beauty above, mirrored below,
peaceful… completely quenching solace.

I have been in such peaceful , perfect places . Reading your poem is like a meditation taking my soul back there, resting awhile, awaking refreshed.

I love the poen Eric, actually after reading it I had to run into the studio and sketch a little in my memory journal. It’s a gift of words and visions, thank you so much!
This gallery is the best ever! So many incredible artists and so many fantastic works, I really love this one.

Isn’t Eric talented!? I’m firm believer that writers are just artist by a different medium. So, I decided to give Eric a challenge: write a small piece for our upcoming themes, too. He accepted the challenge and will be working on the themes right along with us.
The Moon River gallery is so beautiful. You all did an amazing job. It’s really so soothing just to view all of them together- each one flowing into the next.
I agree. This is one of our best galleries so far.

I agree that this must be the best Challenge response yet! Definitely my favourite anyway . The inspiration I felt for the subject has obviously been shared by everyone and I feel proud to have instigated it!

How beautiful the colors of all your artwork blend together! This gallery struck me as a whole first, my eyes not falling on any in particular longer than another. And, Eric, I think your poem is such a moving accompaniment. Now to go see them individually

Have you ever walked into a gallery where one from the other blended and flowed so beautifully? I love going to museums but am often struck by a piece here or there that just didnt click. When opened the door (clicked on the tab to the bookmark) the world softened….the light took on a moonbeam aura and the sound of the fast past disappeared. Am amazed as to what we are as a group from all over. Fanny; thank you for this inspiration this month and Vikki all the time and effort you give to make these moments….You all make this world beautiful these days!

Eric, having time to absorb your words I am struck by the lines; “Sequesterd by an ancient oak” and “benefiting a simple soul such as I”…beautiful. You have truly captured the essence of the moon in; “Sumptuous beauty above, mirrored below, peaceful … completely quenching solace.” I love words and how they can be played with…and you played them well..:0)

Thank you artists one and all (those of image & word) . I stopped by this gallery on a prompt from Eric’s “Ruminations [ . . . ]” blog, and glad I am that I did . . . I had, until just a few moments ago, been having an oddly down, frustratingly “off” day. But these soothing, intriguing, calming works have helped bring my head/heart into a better place.
