From Rusty: I was painting with a small group in a little town. During a lunch break I was meandering looking at different shops. In this quaint little flower shop, in an old carriage house, I found this Cali Lilly and bought it for a dear friend.
Taking it back to the group I placed it near a window. I was taken with the contrast of the simple bag next to the delicate translucent blooms. Another artist and I painted it that afternoon. It was a gift in so many ways.
I got it out today and reworked it with my more recently aquired skills and knowledge. So many ways to grow in this life.

Hi Rusty,
I adore the simplicity and the contrast between the bag and pink lily. Beautiful rendering. I also like that little tag just barely in the image. Very clever. And welcome to your first Challenge also!

your work takes my mind on memories of days gone by; holds time suspended and grows abound before my eyes. It’s all in the appreciation of life and the gifts we are given from the heart. How appropriate that you recorded this side of your personality a gift from you to another.

I love it, the delicate beauty of the lily contrasting so beautifully with the simplicity of the bag. just beautiful.

Love your flower pictures (just watched the Georgia O’Keeffe movie) and bird pictures … but I’ve always particularly loved your depictions of (semi)gem stones, having long had a thing for unset stones (if one can’t have the real thing, one of your pictures will do very nicely, indeed, thank-you very much!).

This was done with beautiful delicacy. The contrast between flower and plain brown bag is a natural, and you did it very well.

The brown bag is such a nice addition here.It enhances the beauty of the petals and leaves; adds a little drama to composition!Great Work.
