From Lauren:
Taking the high road… That’s what this series is about… It’s about climbing out of the murk and living your life in a way that’s positive. It’s about seeing that you really do have a choice and the power to control what you think and what you do, how you react to things and how you choose to communicate. It’s about striving to be a light in your circle of influence. We are not helpless. We are powerful. And when given a choice, let’s take the high road.

I’m so glad you submitted for this theme! Wonderful piece.
You’ve actually achieved an upward motion within the canvas not just with the ladders but the choice of color selection. Even the circular forms flow up to the stars.

Thanks Vikki. Thanks for not giving up on me, and keeping me on the list!

I knew you’d come around when you had the time. I have about 50 or 60 more ‘Laurens’ I’m working on also. LOL

Your artist statment really helps see your overall piece with more direction. Even if we haven’t chosen the high road your other roads will get us there if we are willing to deal with the muck to get from one to the other. I suppose that is the reality of life as it is. Choices.

It is interesting how the color is lighter at the top of the ladder where you reach the stars! This reminds me of a stained glass piece.

Thanks for your comment Gail… I’ve often been told that my work reminds them of quilts too.

I’ve just visited your site, curious as to what some of your other work looks like: Makes me think of the likes of Klimt, Miro, Chagall and Kandinsky, and your artist’s statement… could not have put it better myself, I do so agree.
Love the work, I’ll be watching for more.

Agree with those before me; and I saw quilt patterns and stitch work as well as the stained glass all with an upward turn. Patience and more patience as you developed this didn’t you. Like the way you created depth within in the value change of the shapes.
