From Vikki: Pablo Ruiz Picasso ( 1881 – 1973)
“I remember you …. You had just arrived in New York. White fuss was blowing on top of your bald head as you got off the plane. You waved and smiled to the paparazzi and cameras like you were greeting old friends.”

Thank you Sonya and Rusty. What I found interesting about him, in SO many photos he posed like this (most with his shirt off) and this intense look on his face. Yet in reading about him – he was quite the prankster. I guess old Pablo wanted everyone take him seriously.

His face I found in a photo. The rest of him is totally ab lib. That’s my brown t-shirt he’s wearing. lol

Your magic continues to enthrall, not only a great physical likeness but the personality also, so well observed and practiced. I think he did want to be taken seriously as a painter, but as a human being I assume he wanted to be loved, liked most of us. Is that a bit of Guernica in the background? Great painting, Vikki.

I love this Vikki. I love the monotone colours but also that you have put extracts from his paintings with just a hint of other colours behind him…very clever idea .

Thank you Fanny and Ray. He had a really interesting face to work with.. and do love his bald head. Great fun.

You got it Ray-As far as what paintings I sourced for the characters in the background- Guernica (1937), and 3 Figures (1938). From my college years I collected the book, ‘Picasso and the War Years’ and used it as my reference.

Vikki, This is really gorgeous. I especially like the interplay of the parts of his works against his face.
