From Ray:
This painting is dedicated to Boris, who after being trampled by a cow as a kitten went on to live to the ripe old age of 22. He died in our arms one cold, snowy, winter night, eight years ago; the night before Christmas. It still brings a tear to my eyes when I think of him and he wasn’t even our cat. He belonged to a neighbor, just preferred being with us. He was beautiful. Scraggy, matted and beautiful. Here’s to you, Boris.

May Boris always stay close under your cape.

I love this and you almost made me tear up. Kitties definitely steal our hearts. I have little furry soul that left our world in 2007. There hasn’t been a day that I haven’t thought about her or missed her.

Thank you, all. He was a lovely, old puss. The consolation was, he had a good, long life. The farmer who owned him was going to have him put down after the cow incident but all the kids were ready to lynch him for just suggesting this. So, after a few months and a good few hundred UK pounds later, Boris was out of traction and about to begin his long, good life. For that, we are happy.

Ray, I concur…so touching and how you chose to portray your love is so telling.

what a wonderful honoring of Boris, your love for him, and the loss you’ve experienced. Sounds like a strong spirit teacher of the four legged kind, living through that traumatic beginning, to the wonderful age of 22. This piece has me seeing the beginning of a wonderful illustrated children’s book…

Hmmm. When are you going to start, Karin. I’ll be there with my pencil and brush, ready and waiting.
