Vikki,
Your lighting is always so beautiful and theatrical to me. I love the richness of color and especially the gorgeous blue egg. I am off to read the accompanying story.

Hi Gail. Thanks. The lighting was interesting to deal with . Two sources:
The basket was on the floor near my feet for the downshot. It was getting blasted with light from my studio window but it was really dark on other. (Not the mood I wanted to set) So I put a desk lamp on opposite side of the floor . That did the trick. I liked the scatter effect. (Doesn’t really show in the jpg.)

Vikki, from the gallery view I thought this was a photograph! But your art is so stunning and realistic that this is not the first time I have thought that. I’m also off to read your story…

Thanks Sarah. I don’t really push for realism – just a pretty composition.

Sometimes it is hard to reconcile that being different is not the same as imperfection. I am pleased to imagine that her own gift of compassion and stratagy will teach her that.
A wonderful illustration for that story.
Even more, the painting is so beautiful. I enjoy the pattern you created under the eggs. An imperfect grid, how perfect is that!!!

Thanks Rusty- SO true! Unfortunately just not the nature of people and one of the biggest problems we all deal with socially.
As I detailed my background it occurred to me that I had sailed into ‘Rusty’ territory and palette. . You see -we do influence each other on the Challenge w/o realizing it.

The lighting is beautifully executed in this. Realistic but yet with a softness to it that’s very appealing.

I did drool over the background scene. Loved it instantly. It was your shadows that took my breath away….

particularly like the way the light reflected from the dried leaves in the nest. Your the queen of value judgements!

Thank you Andrea, Rusty and Miss Sonya. I put a picture of my actual model on my blog. (you have to see it. Its pretty funny.) There’s something very cathardic in doing little works like this that mainly just encompasses busy detail.

The beginning of a new tail waiting to hatch. Such attention to detail, beautiful colors and perfect composition. We have come to expect no less from the captain of the ship.

Thanks. Without your site… well. What can I say. And it’s going to a very good home, isn’t it, Rusty?
