From Andrea :
This print used blocks from other prints on a monotype background/foreground. Several layers of thin ink were carefully brushed on the plate, but when it came time to print the background trees and evergreens, which each took several impressions to capture the mist, something was off with my registration. I can’t decide if it adds to the effect or if the imperfection drives me crazy.

DEFINITELY adds to the effect. I love the aged sepia fell. It looks like the old photo tins. I’ve recently been in a burnt umber minimal color mode- so this is right up my alley!
I am off to your blog to read the details on your print making. Again, (and I know I speak for everyone) we want to know about this ‘handmade paper’and your printing process.
In fact at first glance, I can assure you, we will ALL want to be Andrea’s new best friend. lol

This is an interesting process you’ve brought to us.
I’m not at all bothered with the double vision in the background. It reminds me a little of an energy shimmer.

Andrea, I also think this works. I actually REALLY like it and inspires in me to imagine a story to go with it
I’m going now to explore more of your art…

Thanks for the comments! Don’t get me started on process, I’ll go on and on. Printmaking is great. The eastern style I do combines drawing and carving and painting using the transparency of ink, plus beautiful, silky hand made papers. Fun stuff!

mirror image, fantastic. Have seen the work in person. It reminds me of memories in the way that you make them!

I just love this. I try to imagine it without the ghost image and it just isn’t the same. A very happy accident, art is full of them.
