What I really like in this panel is the foreground individual exiting canvas left. And the Moon in cloud cover. The shadows of the crowd stretching across the panel are also an excellent element and really accentuates the mood of that night.

This painting for me was almost a pilgrimage. It’s funny how a song I’ve spent the last 40 years trying to figure out but never quite doing it, has had such a profound affect on me. From that point of view, it was a very difficult painting to execute – I was never going to do the song justice what ever I did! That said, we still have to think about composition, tonal balance etc. don’t we? Thanks to both of you for your comments.
