They are known by many names: fairy, pigmy, sprite and the far darrig . The most common calling is the Little People and Leprechaun. Folklore about ‘Lúchorpáin’ goes back to the Druids and a time when Ireland began. But what I am about to tell you is the truth … To read the rest of this story please visit MY BLOG.

I shall be off to your blog as soon as I’ve had another morning coffee. This is a lovely picture, right up my street (I mean alley) Gorgeous! Beautifully rendered as always. She looks so peaceful, not sure I’d like to be around when she awakes, though.

Thanks Ray- All of the watercolorists on the site are affecting the way I deal with acrylics and oils. Can you tell? lol I’m getting more fluid.

I think fluid is an understatement. What I see is such magnificent control of the tools and materials, each texture and tone considered and applied just as you want them to be. Truly a master of your art. Each time I look at this it just gets better and better. You set the standard for us all.

Thanks Ray. Now if I can only get adescent jpg of it. I was snapping this and adding into the gallery literally minutes before I needed to publish. It looks a bit soft…and just the sort of thing that drives me crazy.

okay, my first thoughts go to african violets, which I love.

I love her lovely leggins. How amazing that you thought to create her wearing them (especially the band on the calf of her leg)

I will read go to read the truth….

Thanks Rusty. She was a bit of an afterthought for this theme but I enjoyed painting her immensily.

She’s absolutely gorgeous Vikki ! A wee sprite one would hope to discover asleep in the garden. Her flowing dress, even the crinkles in her knees, wow ! How do you do it.

  • 9 Vikki // Aug 31, 2010 at 5:53 pm

Thanks Cheryl. How I do it? I pose in all sort of crazy ways and see what happens. I had my stretchy pants on that day…and wa-la ‘me little sprite’ had leggings.

I actually just got a comment on my blog from a lady who believes ‘the little people’ to be real. Apparently that’s not uncommon especially in Ireland.
