Dana, okay I will say it first. WAY TO THINK INSIDE THE BOX. The gold leafing is extremely difficult to work with and appreciate your patience and talent. Am betting the scroll work is all the way around this piece. Did a double take on the price (the time required and technique and you-have not even addressed the oil canvas-trimmed leaf bound) Outstanding-HOLIDAY GIFT

I think the lotus flower represents life or the coming into life/enlightenment?
Putting it into such an assemblage is such a statement about its precious beauty.

My gosh! I was looking at the design on the box and dumbfounded with the intricate wood work pattern! Is that chiseled into it or painted? The rich golden stain, with the soft pastel bloom on the interior is gorgeous.

This is really beautiful. Well thought out and created with obvious skill. I agree with Sonya, it’s a very generous selling price. A bargain!
