I like that we do not know which is crossing over. Clever.
I like the repeated pattern of the arch.

Thanks for your thoughts. This was definitely a contemplative piece for me….love to see everyone’s different interpretation.

I enjoy your work SO much, Gail. Its always has an assured ease to it. I especially like the texture on her dress. Really nice work. And what is she ’crossing over’ to? You must tell us.

I think that it is so open to interpretation is one of the beauties of the painting, we all see what we see. The affect you’ve achieved on the dress is stunning.

Thank you Vikki and Ray – the effect on the dress is done with Golden Acrylic’s Glass Bead Texture gel. I love the effects you can get with some of their new products. Using them keeps my work fresh and challenging, because of the unpredictability of how it will work in the final product.
This piece is, for me, about passages in life we go through, and the state of “crossing over” intuitively, as well as physically, to new perceptions and acuity – a sort of “secret window” that we pass through as we enter a new phase of maturity and understanding. I am leaving it open to the viewer’s interpretation to figure out who is crossing over. You may read a bit more written about this piece, and the background on it, on my blog site:

Gail, I did enjoy reading more about the background to this. It makes me think of how many ‘secret windows’ we pass through in life.
