From Lelan: The title of this piece is a continuation of the thought expressed in the work. Put together, the idea here is “Love kills slowly because all hearts bleed.” No matter how guarded your heart, how far back into the darkest shadowy reaches of your soul you keep it tucked, or how fortified you believe it is… there is always a point of weakness. Some belief, entity, person, or ideal that you will happily allow your devotion to turn you into a fool for its defense. The epitome of Valentine’s Day.

Such a sad bleeding heart. I’ve had a knife or two in my heart also. Wonderful detail, 3 dimensionality and oh sooo penetrating .

So true. All extremes have their opposites, just not so sure about the ‘slowly’ part.

What only a few people that have both seen this piece and know that I’m going through my nth divorce understand is that this piece is not a bleating, fleeting outcry for the lost relationship with my soon-to-be ex. This piece is my acknowledgement that the constant ache and agony of being without my children for so long leaves a devastating impact even on a hardass like me.

Why is it that …of the two…who part ways; their common pain/joy is that that was begotten of both? Oh to have a way shared freely without pain so all would not be less in life. Nothing…nothing greater than heartbreak of being without your children Lelan. May the powers that be find a way to make that change.
