From Gwen:
Weather here in Texas is so unpredictable! A clear blue sky can turn into dark, ominous clouds within minutes. The threat of a Tornado is a very real fear of mine. The Duck & Cover drill was not merely an antiquated posture left over from the bomb paranoia of the 50′s & 60′s. It meant survival. It is still practiced by our school children today as one of their only defenses against the dreaded monster. Tornado Siren test day still happens once a month. The eerie sound sends shutters down my back at the memory of all of the times when it was NOT a drill. I find few things as scary as grabbing kids, dogs, pillows and crouching together in a cramped closet or bath tub waiting for the roof to blow off!

Fantastico, like seeing the clouds from an airplane.

Now, that’s my kind of sky. Ominous and foreboding. You just know something big is going to follow. A beautiful and strong image.

Gwen, I feel the power in this, too. I really love a stormy sky and the energy you can feel from it, but I do think tornadoes are the scariest type of weather.

Oh Sarah- There are scarier things. I’ve seen the water jump out of my pool and my couch move across a room like it’s haunted. I know what it feels like to loose gravity under my feet. EARTHQUAKES! lol

Nice. Love the colors and how the dark clouds are creeping in

Vikki, and I was forgetting that, at least with a lot of tornadoes there is at least a little warning, but there are no warnings with earthquakes (I don’t think, besides for those monitoring the earth)…our main thing here are, of course, hurricanes, but at least we have plenty of warning. My sister in CA, has told me of the extensive plans that go into effect for schools (businesses, too?) when they have a drill and for the real thing. Do you have some of your furniture secured to the walls?
