Absolutely breathtaking, Ray. I took note that his is an oil, rather than your usual watercolor. It’s interesting that you still maintain that ’oh so’ fluid feel to the oils. Really beautiful piece.

The scene in the painting is so beautiful and yet dangerous!! Until I read Vikki’s comment I had not noted it was an oil Your style is clearly yours. Okay, is it just me? am I seeing a house or the ark?

I love this. I can feel the movement. I can hear the wind.

So much movement, and yes I see the ark too and the animals. I feel the water gushing down too.
    Love it.

Hi all and thank you for your comments. I love trying to get that soft layered feel with oils, usually so much easier in transparent paint like watercolor. I use anything from a ’000′ sable brush to my thumb which is my favorite blending tool when using oil based paint.
Rusty, it’s not just you, it’s me as well. It is in fact a very large house-boat, you could say. Well,… it was two of every animal and insect on the planet plus Noah and his extended family.

Yes, I can see the ark too, and feel the gush of water. How do you paint it so realistically Ray?

  • 8 Barbra Dean // Mar 7, 2011 at 2:30 am

Lovely Ray. Can feel the gush of water, the movement of the ark, so clever. Just love it.

Thanks Barbra. The more we do a thing the better we hopefully get at it and I just have this overwhelming need to put into pictures the things I see in my head. It’s really never that easy!

Nice Ray. I can see the storm creeping in

Ray, I echo those above. Heavy and uplifting at the same time and yes, such a wonderful ‘you’ perspective!

    Thanks, Cheri, stormy days ahead?!!
Sarah, if you like the perspective on this one, wait till you see “Tender Is The Night” if I don’t muck it up on the way!!!!!
