From Vikki: Rusty Harden recently said that ‘the Challenges push her to create work (subject matter) that she would not have done otherwise.’ That was certainly exemplified for me with this theme. As I pondered what to do, Venus seemed appropriate. She is the goddess most associated with the month of April.
I am absolutely in love with the paintings that came out of the 30’s and 40’s. Traditional art -but they have a look feel of their own that is so romantic and timeless. Venus is an example of my efforts to gravitate towards that.
Facts about Venus “She is the goddess of love, beauty and fertility and played a key role in many Roman religious spring festivals. From the third century BC, Roman upper classes identified her as the equivalent of the Greek goddess Aphrodite.”

Hauntingly beautiful and pre-possessed of demure power. Excellent portraiture resplendid with reverence-commanding grace. Kudos, Vikki!

AWESOME! you definitely have an ear for the tongue-in-cheek nature of the realities of life (somewhere in all those body parts is a compliment, I assure you). In any event, well done.

Lelan has already used the first word that came to my head – Awesome – I can’t find another word to match that. So incredible beautiful the way she looks demurely down, so elegant, so feminine, a word we are probably not supposed to used nowadays, and mores the pity. Just the most enchanting painting that would look fabulous on any wall, in any home. Totally mesmerised..

Absolutely beautiful, Vikki – just love the skin tone colors and the complete absorption on her face. Haunting!

Hi Patricia and thank you. I’ve been playing with hard light on different subjects. There’s something really intriguing about it.

Vikki, soft and tender, yet strong…I feel like we have just now caught a glimpse of her in a private moment. I wonder what is she thinking about. I just love the position of the flowers and feel as if they must hold meaning for her.

Ethereal is the word that comes into my mind. As, I suppose, a goddess of love should be.
The touching of the rosebud on her bare shoulder makes her become part of the floral arrangement. A most beautiful vessel.
