From Rusty: This is the reason the ant lives. Did you know that without the ant the peony would not open its bud. Look very closely at the largest bud and I have one doing its job.

OMG RUSTY! This is so gorgeous. The flowers are like something out of old paintings from the 30′s or 40′s …SO romantic! Incredible detail and work.
And I didn’t know that about ‘ants.’ Everything creates a balance.

I was on a quest to find the perfect peonies to paint. I took dozens of photos in different locations. The owner of the home where I took the photos for these was really nice.

Love this!!! Getting the perfect photo of peonies is hard enough, but your painting makes them even more special!

Thank you Carol. I know what you mean about how difficult it is to get a photo of peonies. I took photos of them everywhere. Finally found these. Still, I worked from about five photos to create this painting. I especially enjoyed painting the bud.
