From Rusty:The story of the origin of Amethyst comes from Greek legends: “The god of wine, Bacchus, was insulted one day by a mere mortal. He swore that the next mortal that crossed his path, would be attacked by his fierce tigers. Along came a beautiful maiden named Amethysta. Goddess Diana turned Amethysta into a beautiful statue of Quartz to save her from the tigers’ claws. Remorseful, Bacchus wept tears of wine over the stone maiden, creating a lively purple stone.

I’m always impressed with the quality of your mineral paintings, and this one is no exception by far. And I got to learn something too! Great work, Rusty!

So very realistic looking; and this particular gem is one of my favorites.
Many of us delved into Greek mythology for this challenge…

    Rusty, this is wonderful.
Is it just me or can I see a space cruiser on an upward trajectory? You’ve achieved such a lovely quality of light.

Rusty, I agree, so realistic and I love the purple against the black and it’s my birthstone!
