This man was an Italian scientist in the 17th century. Some thought his beliefs were not only quixotic, but his insistence on believing such theories – immoral. In fact the government was so outraged with his behavior, he was arrested and charged with heresy by the Inquisition at the bequest of the Catholic church. He was forced to renounce his beliefs publicly and then placed under house arrest for what was (almost) the remainder of his life.

We know him simply as ‘GALILEO- The Father of Modern Science.
