From Deborah:
Remember me?

It was an early summer evening, school was out and an after dinner game of hide and seek had spontaneously erupted among the neighborhood kids. I was about 7 or 8 at the time, and had found the perfect hiding place in a niche at the bottom of an arborvitae hedge that separated two of our neighbor’s yards. I dove into the opening and flattened myself down into the grass, knowing I was safe from discovery, when suddenly there was a burning; stinging sensation on my left thumb…something was hurting me! With a cry (and a total disregard for the seeker; game forgotten!), I sprung out of my hiding place looking at my hand… There, attached to my thumb was a giant black and yellow bumble bee! Its legs were wrapped around my thumb so tightly that I couldn’t shake it off, it was stinging me!! Dancing around shaking my hand and screaming, I was a sight! I finally scraped the bee off with my other hand, and ran home for first aid! Needless to say, I was “it” when I returned to the game…

LOVE THIS! The limited colors are great fun and I really enjoyed your short story.

When I saw that big bee my memories go to tale about my son. He was about 9 months old and I watched him roll over on the grass – little baby foot straight up in the air. To my horror ONE OF THOSE BEES PLANTED ITSELF RIGHT ON THE MIDDLE OF HIS LITTLE FOOT! I immediately picked it off my baby with no qualms and the bad boy of bees got me in my thumb also.

How brave to return to the game!!! An adorable story you share with us. The photograph is a lot like our memories…just one part with color and the rest fades to black. love it.
