Lovely words from Bliss Carman. You made a beatiful painting. The background is a mystery. I like that very much. When I look to the butterfly I get a lonely feeling. How come?

Rusty, I am always humbled by your talent and this piece is an exceptionally poignant example of that. Beautiful work, and wonderfully executed. Nicely done.

    renate,
I believe you sense that the butterfly IS alone. Any journey that requires endurance is by its very nature one that is made alone. Even with the encouragement of friends or family, endurance is still an internal quality developed by a state of mind.

    Vikki,
Perfect timing for this theme. Creating it was very cathartic.

    Okay Lelan,

I worried most that using the butterfly would be perceived as too cliche. There was just not an other option for this painting that would serve as metaphor for the beauty of gettting through it. If you could see the piece in life, you would see the (scales) or dust of color from the wings left behind on the some of the cobwebs. And of course, the butterfly carries some of the web along with it, lest we forget from what we have survived. Thank you for your comments.

    Rose,

Thank you, I feel too feel that this is a powerful painting. And very true to how I feel about my life.

    Cheri,

Deciding on the final colors for that butterfly drove me crazy! I like the final choices. I’m glad you like the colors too.

Rusty, I wholeheartedly echo all above me. I feel and can see the movement of struggle that was and the freedom to come. I really love this a lot.
