From Patricia:
Ocean-going Polynesian canoes approach the shores of undiscovered New Zealand – “The Land of the Long White Cloud”.
One of 36 illustrations I’ve just completed for the recently-published book “Taketakerau The Millennium Tree” which tells the story of the life of a 2000 year old tree. For part of its long history this tree was used as a burial tree by the local Maori.
In telling the story, the book also recounts the major events of New Zealand history.

You have conveyed such strength in the flight of the birds. Those adventurers in the boats are in for a delightful discovery. The artwork is really beautiful. Did you write the book as well?

Love the colors…to me it feels like the boats are embarking on the first voyage around the earth and got caught in the earths run-0ff at the edge!

Patricia, I agree with Rusty about the strength of the birds and I like how the water is drawing us in. The book sounds very interesting
