As artists, how has your creativity extended to other parts of your lives? Do your guilty pleasures tend towards the creative? How about your hobbies and other ways you choose to relax on your own or with other people?

Is there something you're drawn to that maybe isn't particularly creative that offers some balance in the use of your brain?

Hmmmm....which guilty pleasure shall I share... Shocked

Smiley My life-long (and as of yet unrequited) love for riding motorcycles. As much as my gift of visual thinking is also my curse, my greatest escape would be the rumble provided by an H-D Dyna Wide Glide beneath me, my old lady on her 883 Sportster Superlow beside me, and nothing in front of me but millions of visual inputs flashing by me too fast for me to safely register...

The bonus? Most of my rides would be to places lending themselves to the photography side of IFS, so after going visually mute for a while, I'd be ready to jump back into some vision questing... win/win

I can imagine, Lelan! I have heard motorcycle riding is like nothing else. There are a bunch of motorcycle groups that we see together on weekends and I'm amazed at the variety of bikes that they have. They always look quite content!

One thing that I don't mind admitting is my penchant and hankering for my SIMS. But what has always interested me the most is the from scratch building and decorating of their houses/buildings. I have probably built every type and category of housing and business for them. Tree houses, beach huts, castles, cabins, bubble houses etc. And after I'm done building, I will play my character (money cheat, of course) for a while, get bored with that and go back to building! I consider it a 'guilty pleasure' because I purposely stop myself from playing until I know I will have a good chunk of time...which isn't nearly as often as I would like  Grin

As far as a more left brain activity...nothing comes to mind yet!!

Wow...I  had a hard time traversing through my life for this thread.

One of the most profound surprises for me was when I began to write stories and poems for the Inferno.  (For the newbies,  The Inferno was an extension of The Artist Challenge for writers.  It found itself in hybernation for a while.)   This was a discovery of a whole new creative side of me.  I think some of them were very good.  I began to post them in my writing blog  http://rusty-harden.blogspot.com/

Guilty Pleasure,  well, there is a neighborhood pub,  Boston's Bistro.  They have handcraft bier and a hungarian thing going on.  My initial connection to them was when they served a beer tasting at one of my solo exhibits.  When I go there,  I feel like an honored guest because I'm an artist they respect.  (Of course,  it does't go to my head but it is a little bit nice to be special for a few hours.  But they don't give me any beer, I buy my own.

Actually this summer, I am hosting/co-sponsoring a special art event in June.

Ahhh...neighborhood Pubs can be so cozy and relaxing  Smiley ...well, the right sort of ones, of course.  Wink

This is not very interesting or scandalous, but I do partake in the sweets perhaps ten times too many.  Grin

But, I try to limit the stretches of times this occurs, and I brush reeeaaallly well! Oh, and I do tend to get creative in this area, also.
