I  got online in 2005.  I started my Red Chair Gallery and wanted to sell my work but I was clueless how to get started.  I quickly found ’build it and they will come’ isn’t true. They weren’t coming.

Thinking the best resource would be to contact successful online artists, I emailed a number of them and was pretty disappointed in the results.  Most of these people weren’t willing to share information about what I needed to do to get my website prevalent in the search pages and find customers.

In marketing, a healthy completive edge isn’t a bad thing, but the attitude I was receiving back in emails from other artists was appalling.  They acted like giving me any input would rob them of a potential clientele.  The absurdity: With a entire world of online customers- how insecure does someone have to be to actually think any action to help a fellow artist-will diminish them? Did they believe all their loyal customers would rush over to my site and drop them like fly

Just couldn’t/ wouldn’t believe the whole online population of artists were like that, so I kept on emailing and finally found a couple who were willing to share their savvy with me.  I also researched the net, learned how the internet works and eventually came up with a scheme. I started selling online.

That experience became an significant part and the basis for the Challenge and Dante‘s Pub.  Artists come here to share and to learn. The nicest thing about it is, THESE ARTISTS that make up the membership of the Challenge have created a support system with and for each other.  Cool, huh?

There’s a saying that‘s been around for centuries: If you don’t share it- you loose it.  Share what you know.  You'll be better for it.
