“CBS SUNDAY MORNING SUN ART” -CHALLENGE #26 – Saturday/ MARCH 13th, 2010 RECOMPENSE Theme Gallery

“CBS Sunday Morning Television Show is a staple of society and loved by millions. It is an intellectual ‘slice of Americana’ encapsulating current events, ART, nature, everyday people and places. “

2009’s Sun Art Challenge produced major painting and print sales for several members. LET’S DO IT AGAIN!

Sunday Morning TV Show uses Sun Art at the end of each show segment. There are 9 segments per a 1 ½ hour show. The art is selected based on how it correlates to the show subjects. Example: I did a Sun Art painting in 2008 and put a pair of glasses on my sun character. It was used for a 2009 segment called “Grand Spectacle” about people and their choice in glasses and what it says about them.

Your work will be sent DIRECTLY to the CBS Show Producer on DVD with a glossy and considered for on-air application. The art is selected at the discretion of the individual segment producers. There is no guarantee your work will be used but it will become part of CBS Sun Art Library and available for selection on future shows.

If your art does go to air, CBS DOES NOT PAY FOR USAGE. Participation in this theme is your opportunity to enrich your marketing toolkit by being part of the CBS Television library.

THE SCOOP ON DOING SUN ART:

1. HORIZONTAL CANVAS. Your image MUST BE in format applicable to a television screen.

2. FACE ON THE SUN: 90% of the Sun Art chosen HAS A ‘FACE’ on the sun. Give it a some personality.

3. DO YOUR OWN THING- From my experience- the producers love ALL styles of art from abstract to intricate design. They ALSO use 3d sun sculpture made of polymer, wax, wood – you name it- as long as it’s sun!

4. SEND 2 JPGS: One for our gallery. (See HOW TO SUBMIT) AND A SECOND FOR CBS.: minimum 150 DPI and 1000 pix HORIZONTALLY.

5. SUNDAY MORNING IS A FAMILY SHOW. Need I say more?

Cost are involved with “SUN ART” . Tis our Trifling Recompense Theme for March. To pay the paltry fee ($7) and participate in Gallery #26 please push the magic PayPal button HERE.

Solar burn-out DUE DATE for submissions is Saturday March 13th, 2010- 8pm East Coast.

*The Sun Art used for our thumbnail was done by Sonya Conti, 2009 Sun Art Challenge #7. Her painting and prints were sold shortly post our gallery. Her marketing savvy: This  painting is part of the CBS Sunday Morning Library! “

beautyBEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER” -CHALLENGE #27  MARCH 27TH, 2010 FREE Theme Gallery

“Dear Sir…
I do apologize for mistaking your wife for one of the chimpanzees and shall restate myself in a manner more appropriate. If you proclaim she is beautiful…who am I to argue? After studying the photographs you sent me of the dear girl, I have come to a conclusion, which I feel is objective : Beauty is not merely in the eye- but in the imagination of the beholder.”

I knooow! Terrible, but true.  ‘What is beautiful’ is an ancient argument but the person who is widely credited with coining the saying ‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder “ is author Margaret Wolfe Hungerford (née Hamilton), in her book Molly Bawn, 1878.

So is it true that beauty is in the eye of the beholder or merely in the mind that contemplates it?

You know the scoop! You define your concept of “BEAUTY IS IN THE EYE OF THE BEHOLDER” in any medium or style. AGAIN- Any thing goes Sailor!

THIS IS OUR FREE THEME GALLERY FOR MARCH!
